A Letter from the Chair
February is the month of hearts and flowers for many. It is hard to ignore whether celebrated or not. So, let’s not ignore it!
Healing trauma is an act of self-love.
When we see the visual manifestation of trauma and anxiety that is captured within a hoard, oddly, it can feel as if it is a safe and caring space for the person living within it.
What it can be, instead, is a constant and chronic reminder of the pain.
A part of what we do together is to focus on acceptance. The story that brought us here, will never change. Our relationship with it, can.
So, to our many Valentines, who HUK and I are honoured to spend time with…we give our hearts.-Megan
UK Hoarding Partnership
Science Direct has published the incredible work of members of the UK Hoarding Partnership, a collaborative group that HoardingUK is proud to be a part of.
In their article, Matthews, Lunn, Carrigan and Salkovskis explore the role of three interpersonal factors in hoarding disorder – adult attachment, social support and loneliness – and the way that these factors may affect the severity of hoarding behaviours.
Read the full article to discover how these dynamics affect hoarding behaviours – for better or worse.

“Much-needed group. The coordinator is highly knowledgeable on the subject and is kind, understanding, caring, and welcoming. I’m deeply grateful that people like me have a safe space to talk about hoarding.“
